Overview of the United Soccer League (USL)

Position Purpose
The USL’s Onboarding team is an in-house support division within the league office focused on guiding and assisting the buildout and implementation of consumer products design, production, and sales strategies for the launch of new clubs entering the USL system.

This position will help build and drive team performance while working with the clubs’ executive team, revenue drivers and business staff to implement, generate and continue to grow the consumer products revenue of the club.

Additionally, this position will guide each club through the League’s Club Commercial Guidelines to maximize impact opportunities while also growing e-commerce offerings within the USL Licensing Program.

The position will also support the club services, consumer products and partnership’s overall mission of providing unparalleled service to the USL professional club constituency.

 
Duties and Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
 
Guide the consumer products development and sales plan with each club into a year-round content calendar.

Ensure integration of club e-commerce across League platforms include the USL app network, and websites.

Conduct introductions and regularly scheduled communication between clubs and USL licensees.

Identify trends within the consumer products industry and share among USL eco-system.

Exhibit and share best practices for customer prospecting, pursuit and closing.

Maintain regular contact with club staff to guide and drive growth opportunities.

Educate and ensure club consumer products adhere to USL commercial guidelines.

Work with clubs to identify retail opportunities within each stadium as well as brick and mortar locations within the market.

Work with clubs to assist with building e-commerce sites (e.g., Shopify) to display, sell and inventory a variety of consumer products. 
Identify new areas for consumer products revenue generation.

Work across the front office of each club to ensure consumer products are integrated into the club-wide marketing and sales plans including ticketing and corporate partnerships.

Collect and analyze data and inventory for each team to identify creative solutions and opportunities for existing product sell-through.

Conduct analysis of club performance.

Work across USL HQ departments to support League events.

Other duties/responsibilities as assigned.

 
Qualifications
4-year degree in sport management, marketing, business or related field preferred.

Minimum five (5) years of related consumer products or retail revenue generation leadership experience. 
Proven successful retail sales experience (in sports and entertainment environment preferred). 
Consistent track record of success in establishing, selling, and managing retail and consumer product divisions.

Extensive experience in licensing and product buying process.

Experience working with suppliers. 
Previous experience building and maintaining e-commerce sites (e.g., Shopify) to display, sell and inventory consumer products. 
Advanced experience presenting and conducting in-person and virtual meetings.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with team members, executives, member clubs, and external partners.

Ability to work independently in a multi-faceted, fast, fluid, and deadline-driven environment.

Positive attitude and strong work ethic. 
Ability to work as business needs require which may include long days, evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel if / when necessary.

Must have U.S.
