Community Impact Director

American Heart Association

This is a Full-time position in Saint Petersburg, FL posted October 19, 2021.

In collaboration with executive director and VP of Health, provides vision and direction for the markets unified health efforts, and actively involves, informs and integrates with internal partners across the market.

Drives change in the community through the adoption of Policy, Systems, Environment (PSE) changes, and through working with clinics to improve patient outcomes in blood pressure, cholesterol, and diabetes management.

In conjunction with community partners and focusing on eliminating health disparities, the Community Impact Director will lead the process of building or participating in collective impact campaigns for the market.

This will include assessing the community health needs in the local market and developing, coordinating and/or implementing community wide strategies that focus on eliminating health disparities through proven-effective policies, systems, and environmental change approaches.

Helps builds a network of voluteers and identifies appropriate external partners to drive meaningful engagement to advance AHA priorities and drive toward equitable health and wellbeing in the community.

Collaborate with development staff and volunteers to identify, cultivate and secure program funding, including sponsorships and in-kind for relevant programs, campaigns and health impact opportunities.

Work cross-functionally within the organization to identify opportunities for collaboration and synergies to most effectively execute AHA/ASA priority initiatives.

Engage with healthcare providers to ensure best practices and quality improvement for treatment of patients through initiatives including but not limited to Target BP, Check.

In this role, you will report to the Vice President of Health, Tampa Bay.

Daily travel within the market is required when it is safe to do so.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in public health, marketing, public relations and/or community programs, or equivalent work experience in health-related field.

2+ years of demonstrated ability working in community/public health.

Demonstrated critical thinking skills in assessing the local market environment and available resources to successfully implement new and existing programs.

Proven ability to recruit, mobilize, and manage volunteers, including C-suite level executives.

Demonstrated ability to manage large projects and events ensuring target compliance.

Demonstrated ability to efficiently participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment working towards common goals with internal and external clients.

Ability to influence team members without supervisory authority.

Excellent listening skills, including verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, negotiating, problem-solving and decision-making
Highly effective organizational skills, time management, responsibility, leadership, and motivation
Understand the benefits associated with the use of treatment algorithms and their impact on clinical inertia.

Experience working with multicultural communities preferred.

Ability and willingness to occasionally travel outside the market and to work evenings and weekends as needed.
