*Commercial Glass Senior Estimator*

*Duties and Responsibilities*

• As a member of the Leadership Team, the Senior Estimator participates in key decisions pertaining to strategic initiatives and operational execution; contributes to strategic planning; supports corporate initiatives; keeps abreast of critical issues in other departments/groups; understands market and economic factors affecting the organization; participates in corporate policy development; and creates and delivers an outstanding experience for the organization’s employees and clients.

· This hands-on Senior Estimator position is responsible for hiring, leading, monitoring, and supporting performance measurements and standards across the Estimating Department. Analyze department metrics against goals and hold accountable to performance standards. Ensure a highly motivated and productive team dynamic environment.

• Demonstrate strong communication and relationship management with clients, general contractors, and team members.

• As lead Estimator, sources leads, screen bid requests based on bidding criteria and the best matches for company.

• Attend pre-bid meetings, conducts site inspections, and collaborates with field team to ensure accurate data collection for bid generation and project execution.

• Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates. Prepare construction budget by studying plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.

• Prepare subcontractor packages and obtain bids.

• Evaluate offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements. Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes to cost estimates.

• Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents.

• Do quantitative takeoffs of materials by either building the project in manufactures system configurator or directly imputing all materials into the spreadsheet.

• Compute costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.

• Transmit addenda and other bid information to subcontractors to keep them updated on project changes through the bidding process

• Solicit and maintain communication with multiple subcontractors and vendors. Maintain product knowledge, capabilities, and lead times of current and prospective vendors and/or manufacturers.

• Prepare, coordinate and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, SOV’s, shop drawings, and material orders.

• Prepare and submit attractive, accurate and competitive bid packages following company bid process.

• Attend meetings, conduct site inspection and collaborate with field team to gather information on material and labor requirements as well as other data for project execution.

• Consistently follow up on submitted bids and budgets with Architect and/or Construction Manager to close business.

• Properly turn over and review bid documents to Project Management in a timely manner.

• Participate in quality control inspections and improvements.

• Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services by tracking actual costs as the project develops.

• Prepare work to be estimated by gathering and evaluating proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documentation.

• Estimate all production costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements, by taking in consideration the cost of raw materials, labor, equipment, tools and transportation as the basic factor for cost estimates.

• Review estimate elements for adequacy, uniformity, and completeness, ensuring cost-based accuracy, as well as timely preparation of relevant documentation in accordance with Company standards and guidelines.

• Effectively communicate company related requirements and specifications, regarding products and services, with customers and vendors.

• Monitor any change orders and communicate the price-effect of those change orders with customers. Compute cost factors and prepare itemized cost work sheets and any other required documentation and actions.

• Audit comprehensive job costing results and use them to continuously improve the estimation process.

• Ensure up to date, complete and accurate records, budgets, schedules and progress reports. Maintain all quotation and proposal records as required by the company policy.

• Is responsible for the successful handoff to PM and Lead Glazier by reviewing and understanding shop and fabrication drawings, timelines, lead times, schedule and being able to relay this to PM and Lead Glazier. Follow up and collaboration with PM and Lead Glazier throughout project when needed.

• Conduct take-offs, prepares cost estimates, project schedules, and material procurement processing for commercial window, door, storefront, curtain wall, and paneling systems.

• Collaborate with field team and PM in executing projects in accordance with contract terms and conditions, workforce and safety compliance requirements

• Stay informed of most current product, systems knowledge and industry practices.

*Qualifications: *

· A minimum eight (8) years glazing industry experience providing accurate and detailed estimates within prescribed timeframes. Leadership experience a strong plus.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Structural, Civil, Mechanical, Architecture, Construction Management or related field) or equal experience/work experience

· Knowledge of glass industry dynamics and glazing products (Aluminum and Glass systems including Curtainwall, Storefront, Interior Glass Walls/Entrances, Decorative Glass and Interior Glazing systems).

· Successful track record of estimating interior and exterior glazing projects.

· Experience with Glazier Studio/PartnerPak, Procore, AutoCAD, DropBox, Revit/Bluebeam, Acrobat, preferred.

· Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Project.

· Creating shop drawings in AutoCAD for glazing projects a plus.

· Effective ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, advanced time management skills, and manage resources efficiently.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as active listening, learning, and mathematics.

· Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, negotiation, coordination, follow up and relationship building skills.

· Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
