Highway/ITS Engineering Associate

We are currently seeking a Highway/ITS Engineering Associate for the Infrastructure Practice in our Jacksonville, FL office.

The Highway/Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Engineering Associate will work with a team of engineers within the Infrastructure Practice. This position will be engaged in a large variety of transportation-focused projects, from large and complex expressway/interstate roadway facilities to smaller, safety-focused pedestrian improvements. The position involves participating in the development of highway engineering design, such as traffic signal design, signing and pavement markings, roadway lighting, and ITS, for a variety of project types.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of plans and design on transportation infrastructure projects Design and development of traffic signal plans
  • Determine locations for devices and develop details for ITS Plans
  • Prepare photometric calculations for roadway lighting
  • Assist with the design of pavement markings and signage
  • May sometimes need to assist with field work
  • Other entry level engineering duties, as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering Program from an ABET accredited university with an interest/emphasis in transportation/highway engineering
  • 0-4 years of experience within the field of highway design
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as within a collaborative team environment
  • Willingness to work with different teams to meet project deadlines
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as an Engineering Intern (EI)
  • Prior internship or related experience
  • AutoCAD and / or MicroStation experience
  • Experience working with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida Tollway, or alternate DOT experience
