Failure Analysis Engineer (level 2) / Orlando, FL

This is a Full-time position in Orlando, FL posted October 21, 2021.

As directed by Executive Order 14042: Ensuring Adequate COVID Safety Protocols for Federal Contractors, effective December 8, 2021, Lockheed Martin will require all newly hired employees, in the United States, must be fully vaccinated before their start date.

The ideal Candidate will be capable of performing hands on Root Cause Failure Analysis of semiconductors, electrical components, and materials.

Working knowledge of the construction, packaging, and use of electronic components; including microcircuits, discrete semiconductors, passive electronic and electromechanical components, mechanical parts, and materials.

Familiarity with test, military component standards, and IPC standards is desired.

This position will work with suppliers and component engineers to resolve workmanship issues, implement corrective actions, and write comprehensive root cause failure analysis reports.

Self-motivated, team player, able to pro-actively communicate with all employees and work well in a fast paced environment with capability to interface throughout all levels and functions of the organization.

Capable of handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills (Customers, Peers, Management, and Manufacturers).

Basic Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering

– Experience prioritizing and completing tasks to meet deadlines

– Experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).

– Ability to obtain a security clearance
Desired Skills:

– Two or more years of related experience

– Electrical, Material Science or Metallurgy background.

– Excellent communication skills, (written, and verbal)

– Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate

– Ability to work well in a fast-paced professional office environment

– Demonstrated knowledge of operation of laboratory tools (SEM, EDX, Sample prep, X-Ray, Cross-sectioning, Scopes, Curve Tracer, Meters, etc.).

– Optical microscopy

– Experience with preparation of precision cross-sections

– Ability to use fundamental failure analysis
methodology to derive a root cause of failure

– Data analysis and reporting abilities

– Chemical handling and safety experience
