Schedule: Full-Time/ Day Shift: Location: POLK COUNTY The community you’ll be caring for: REMOTE The role you’ll contribute: The Coding Trainer and Education Coordinator works in the HIM under the direct supervision of the Senior Coding Manager. This position will be chiefly responsible for effectively training and educating the regional coding staff and ensuring coders and contracted vendors are performing their job to the highest accuracy and compliance possible. Maintains extensive knowledge of all coding standards and is able to effectively communicate to all appropriate individuals. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. The value you’ll bring to the team: Works in collaboration with Coding/Clinical Documentation Integrity (CDI) leadership to compile and develop education program that will effectively meet department existing and future anticipated training needs, ensuring operational effectiveness and financial integrity. Maintenance of educational and reference manuals for coding staff to ensure accuracy in coding based on relevant guidelines. Identify, coach and develop existing staff into higher levels of coding Evaluate success of training implementation by assessing achievement of learning objectives and transfer of knowledge to continuously improve training solutions and identify future learning needs. Reviews Coding changes from third party vendors and provides education to mitigate future errors. Conduct needs assessment and identify performance gaps and implementing training best practices to ensure alignment with department needs Escalates documentation opportunities identified to ensure documentation meets standards for coding. Review and respond to coding questions. Qualifications The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed: Expansive knowledge of DRG and APRDRG reimbursement systems Knowledge of and ability to assess adult learning and development Solid analytical, problem-solving, planning, communication, documentation and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail Build strong interpersonal relationships within the department, other departments and external vendor groups Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, including engagement and public speaking skills Technologically intermediate/advanced skills in MS products – Word/PowerPoint/Excel. Self-motivated and ability to work independently in a remote setting Participates in continuing education to promote professional growth and expertise Minimum of 5 years proven acute care hospital inpatient coding experience RHIA, RHIT or CCS certification or credential This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
