Founded in 1964, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Tampa Bay serves more than 2,100 children in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Polk, Pasco, Citrus, Hernando, Sumter, Alachua & Marion counties.

BBBS of Tampa Bay is one of the 270 affiliates around the country that help children reach their full potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with measurable, positive impact. As the nation’s largest donor
– and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in communities across the country.

SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Organization Mission and Strategy: Work with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.

Identify strategic opportunities and challenges facing the agency; lead the Board and Staff in creating solutions.

Collaborate with the Board of Directors to create strategic plans that focus on fund development, community partnerships, program growth and agency capacity.

Conceptualize and recommend policies and operating plans to accomplish the Board’s strategic goals, and ensure regular evaluation of achievements.

Board Governance: Lead BBBSTB in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.

· Facilitate the creation of a strong mix of talent, expertise and resources on the Board of Directors to meet current and emerging organization needs.

Communicate effectively with the Board and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

Identify key constituencies and leverage community relationships to assist in Board member recruitment.

Ensure effective orientation and education of Board members to build their knowledge, commitment, and skills Devise effective processes to keep board members well informed and to use their time and talents appropriately.

Organization Operations: Spearhead the day-to-day operations of the agency in keeping with the policies of the Board of Directors and the Standards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Recruit, hire and manage dedicated, talented and diverse staff.

Establish and maintain a performance-driven staffing structure to reach measurable goals and objectives.

Ensure regular staff development, evaluation, and termination when necessary.

Oversee compensation and benefits administration.

Cultivate a positive work environment that elevates morale, operates with openness, and integrates planning efforts across the organization.

Fundraising, Financial Performance and Viability:
· Implement effective fundraising plans and sound fiscal management procedures to ensure the agency’s financial stability and growth.

Outline annual and multi-year fundraising and financial plans to support the Board’s strategic goals.

Orchestrate a fundraising program that relies on diversified and cost-effective funding sources.

Collaborate with the Board and Staff in the development of budgets and fundraising plans to insure commitment to expectations and constraints.

Develop realistic budgets that focus on top priorities and can respond to changing circumstances.

Community Partnerships:
· Cultivate community partnerships to enhance services to volunteers and children.

Leverage relationships with foundations, corporations, individuals, and public funding sources to underwrite program growth.

Establish partnerships with volunteer rich organizations to promote program growth.

Collaborate with regional BBBS agencies to leverage potential resources and marketing opportunities.

Marketing & Media Relations:
· Ensure that the agency’s marketing plans support the growth of the program.

Create on-going relationships with the media and community organizations to promote high-level visibility of BBBSTB.

Serve as the agency’s media spokesperson in partnership with the Chair of the Board of Directors.

Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff, and community partners.

A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.

Active fundraising experience.

Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.

Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.

Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.

Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making, and reporting.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Strong public speaking ability.

Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.

o Intermediate MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Minimum Bachelor’s Degree with 5 years’ experience as the leader of an organization with a demonstrated record of accomplishment in creating and implementing sustained growth strategies in a non-profit or corporate environment.

Demonstrated ability to support and guide a Board of Directors.

Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a diverse staff.
