Veterinary Technician- Internal Medicine

Job Overview:

The Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician is responsible for running the veterinarian’s day. They are responsible for keeping appointments on time, maintaining records, and performing a variety of animal health and customer service duties in order to provide quality care and exceptional service.

The Internal Medicine Veterinary Technician should have a strong working knowledge of medical terminology, laboratory tests, imaging procedures, and technical and nursing support skills. The Internal Medicine Technician has a strong desire for continuous growth and constant learning. They must be able to remain calm during stressful situations. The Internal Medicine technician is a self-starter and must be able to prioritize, multitask, and manage time. They must also possess excellent communication skills both with coworkers, veterinarians, and clients.

Job Requirements:

• At least 2 years of recent experience in veterinary practice
• Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures (i.e., place IV catheters, phlebotomy, collect samples, knowledge and use of routine veterinary equipment and administer injections) as well as properly restrain patients
• Demonstrates the ability to show empathy toward clients and treat animals with respect and compassion while maintaining a commitment to outstanding client service
• Excellent interpersonal communications skills
• RVT/CVT preferred, but not required
