Our national, public sector consulting firm is seeking a Product Manager to lead SaaS and managed service software solutions. The Product Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a product vision, planning and executing the product vision in coordination with technical developers throughout the product development lifecycle, including gathering and prioritizing solution and customer requirements, delivering successful Minimum Viable Product (MVP) iterations, and managing ongoing iterative product updates.

This position will report to a Vice President in the Office of the Chief Information Officer and work initially on a financial product developed within the Performance Solutions Group (PSG) with opportunity to expand to manage other products in the future, including in other practice areas such as education. The initial product will support MGT’s cost accounting and analysis consulting services to local and state governments and nonprofits.

The Product Manager will be responsible for the product development lifecycle, beginning with ideation and discovery through development and delivery of the product. The Product Manager represents the needs of internal and external end-customers, collaborating with the development team to create alignment between the strategic goals of the product and development releases.

They work closely with internal and external stakeholders to inform product prioritization, resolve problems, and delivery value-creating product enhancements. They prioritize daily work across the development team and validate the product. They will also coordinate with the business team, internal subject matter experts, and sales and marketing teams.

To be successful, candidates should have served in a Product Manager role previously. Candidates must be comfortable presenting in front of virtual and physical groups and be looking for advancement in their career. The individual should also have a genuine interest in working on public sector, mission driven work. For this position, MGT has a preference for candidates with public sector-related financial and/or accounting experience.


  • Define product strategy and own the product development roadmap
  • Write and maintain user stories and acceptance criteria that reflect desired functionality
  • Maintain and prioritize backlogs and roadmaps, collaborating with the business team, development team, and other stakeholders
  • Manage product deployments based on projected team capacity, estimated size of features, business priorities, and resource constraints
  • Identify product enhancements and related system improvements
  • Learn MGT’s core businesses that use SaaS products
  • Lead recurring agile and ad hoc meetings with development and testing teams
  • Manage relationships with developers and inform contract decisions
  • Ensure developers maintain technical documentation
  • Engage internal and external system users with empathy to understand product pain points, successes, and recommendations, including in focus groups
  • Provide transparency to stakeholders throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Understand the market for each relevant product and stay up to date on competitor developments and other shifts in market dynamics to inform product development strategy
  • Support the evaluation of new product ideas through research, lean business case development, and financial analysis
  • Delegate responsibilities to supporting consultants
  • Participate in corporate activities and show a commitment to firm culture
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • The work is fast-paced and in a deadline-driven environment
  • Minimal travel is anticipated, but some travel will be required throughout the year
  • Must be comfortable working more than 40 hours per week when needed
  • Location is negotiable, office location will be remote


  • A BA/BS with strong academic background
  • Previous experience working as a Product Manager and relevant training
  • The ability to think strategically, anticipate future consequences and trends, and incorporate them into a product roadmap.
  • The ability to connect with people both on an individual level and in large groups, and to coordinate work proactively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and appreciation of business concepts, strong business writing and presentation skills, effective communication skills, and an ability to synthesize and share knowledge.
  • Experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence software.
  • An understanding of the product development lifecycle and experience with Agile software development best practices.
  • A sense of humor and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
  • An interest in working with an innovative company seeking to expand its focus on products.
  • Ability to perform basic financial analysis and modelling.
  • The ability to communicate with other teammates to ensure work is done and not try to accomplish everything by yourself.


  • CSPO or CSM certification strongly preferred
  • Master’s degree
  • Previous accounting-related experience a significant plus
