Structures designer will provide design support and solutions to primary and secondary structure across the fleet of Boeing airplane models, including 787, and will be required to comply with all applicable CFRs.Here at BGS SoCal, you will be able to combine the deep expertise and resources of the entire Boeing enterprise with the flexibility and fast pace of a small company setting.

Subject to management approval.Position Responsibilities:Develops, integrates and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system designDevelops, maintains and modifies structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers for aircraft modifications projectsDevelop, manage and status aircraft modification projects supporting Airworthiness Directives (ADs), Customer Commitments, etc.Research and interpret engineering changes and data to develop modification requirements.

Engineering data includes drawing specs, CATIA/CAD models, Maintenance Documents (AMM, SRM, SOPM etc.)Research engineering data using engineering tools/databases such as IVT, CATIA, ENOVIA, REDARS, PSDS, ECAS/IBEXDevelop and manage modification kits using PDM/ENOVIA, QMAPApply extensive knowledge of customer modification requirements to develop improved solutions that are tailored for aircraft customers.Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate modification solutions and able to influence change as neededSupport various program leadership, change process and customer meetings to influence modification decisionsDevelop, review and/or approve Service Bulletin, and Alternative Method of Compliance (AMOC)Provide response to customer service request (SR/BCS) related to Service Bulletin including COSP/Safety Assessment, determine Service Bulletin error engineering solutions, requested additional information or data, IDR/RDR/AMOC supportAble to effectively communicate with external and internal customers as requiredOccasional travel required to support on-site Service Bulletin installations and requested Technical AssistantMake use of and applies extensive knowledge of various engineering disciplines such as payloads, mechanical, and/or systemsDevelops new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effortInvestigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirementsIntegrates new technologies as appropriateAble to effectively communicate and collaborate with team virtuallyPromotes standardization across business activitiesWorks under general direction and willing to train othersWilling to stay late or work on weekends occasionally to support the modification through workstopages and Aircraft on Ground (AOG) requestsThis position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.§120.15 is required.

“US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):Bachelor’s degree with minimum 9 or more years’ related work experience or a Master’s degree with minimum 7 or more years’ related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience7+ years of experience working with aircraft stress analysis/structural analysis5+ years of experience working with cross-functional or cross-organizational teams to develop and implement plans, schedules, or solutions5+ years of experience using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering tools and/or other design methodsPreferred Qualification (Desired Skills / Experience):Design Approval Engineer (DAE) certification or interest in pursuingAerospace experience, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or additive manufacturing experienceExperience in Model Based Definition, CATIA, ENOVIA and PDMExperience with engineering tools such as ENOVIA, CATIA, PDM, QMAP is desiredFamiliarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD& T)Knowledgeable about Airplane Maintenance Standard such as ATA iSpec 2200 and/or S1000d is desired9+ years of experience working with Microsoft Office Applications5+ years of experience working directly with 7-series aircraft is preferred5+ years of experience in Structures Engineering is preferred3+ years of project management experience3+ years of experience in Design Engineering (is preferred), Service Engineering, Field Service, Maintenance Engineering, or Customer SupportAbility to work in a team environmentExcellent cross-functional teaming, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communicationExperience providing product definition and technical support to groups, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycleExperience working with FAA or Regulatory Administration is desiredExcellent communication skills to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functionsExcellent problem solving skillsTypical Education/Experience:Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor’s and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.
