Private Banking LATAM Business Development Head

The CPB LATAM Business Development Head (the “BD Head”) will directly manage a senior team of Regional Business Developers. The job requires a broad and comprehensive understanding of the different systems, theories and practices relevant to a function as well as practical experience of multiple business cycles. In-depth knowledge of the industry and direct competitors’ products/services is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the business, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both the function and/ or area of expertise. Excellent communication skills required in order to influence a wide range of audiences. The job is likely to be involved in both internal and external negotiations, which will have a major impact on the area managed, and possibly on other related areas and organization as a whole. Develops medium-to-long-term plans and executes functional strategies for a large/complex country, cluster of countries, or business requiring coordination and integration across units. Provides input into strategic decisions affecting job family or function within a region or business. Full management responsibility of multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning. Has authority to negotiate and make independent decisions on issues/activities that have critical impact or influence on company revenues, capital or business operations. Typically, a C16 role and sits on the highest functional leadership team within a region, job function, or global business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Primary responsible for accelerating growth of CPB in the Region from mid-single digits historically, to the projected double digit CAGR over the next 5 years. The projected incremental revenue growth will be achieved through (i) increase in NCA, (ii) management, enhancement, and promotion of One Citi Partnership agreements (Markets, BCMA, TTS and GCB/Wealth), and (iii) the creation of Segments that will target clients within key regional verticals, with a differentiated value proposition and product offering.
  • Partner with the sales teams (Bankers and Product partners,) as well as wider Citi businesses, to deliver growth in NCAs and revenues in excess of the plan for the Region.
  • Understand regional and emerging market trends to identify growth opportunities, anticipate obstacles and communicate a forward-looking vision that is responsive to changes in the environment
  • Responsible for the sales and referral partnership agreements with the wider Citi businesses: BCMA, TTS and Citi Markets (SES, MDA, CMBS, etc) as well as the GCB / CPC businesses.
  • Business originator in his or her own right, conveying generic sales pitches to clients and prospects; a face to the market, able to represent the CPB LATAM franchise.
  • Responsible for leading a comprehensive team of (i) Regional Business Developers responsible for overall NCA as well as the BCMA, TTS and Citi Markets Partnerships agreements and revenues in their respective markets working as One Citi ambassadors who are able to articulate and promote the value proposition of CPB as well as the broader ICG platform and capabilities; and a team of (ii) Segment Banker Team Leaders who will be responsible for creating, articulating and promoting the differentiated value proposition for their respective industries/segments partnering with the Regional Product Heads and the Capital Markets Solutions team, to develop a differentiated product offering which is tailored to cater to the specific needs of the industry/segment.
  • Source of new product development ideas as he / she is aware of the needs of the market, competition, etc.
  • Measured on success – a target set by the CPB LATAM Region Head based on NCAs delivered for the Segments and for CPB LATAM as a whole, as well as revenues delivered by the sales channels and partnership agreements the BD Head oversees (Segments, ICG referrals, BCMA, SES, MDA, CMBS, etc).
  • Participates on the weekly Leadership Team meetings as a senior contributor to the sales discussions and meets quarterly with the Region Head to review progress.
  • Drive client planning, cross selling, client access, within the Citi Private Bank in Latin America
  • Participate in client discussions to understand client needs and determine opportunities for further client penetration
  • Support pipeline generation and conversion
  • Improve client value proposition through development and promotion of value-added solutions in the different segments and channels covered by the Citi Private Bank
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, specialized analytics or related discipline
  • Broad and diverse function experience in sales, marketing, credit, acquisitions, product development and analytics
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements
  • Ability to work unsupervised and adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate
  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
